🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE 🚨 Due to the storm damage and power outages affecting Ephrata Borough and Ephrata Township, the leadership of Pioneer Fire Company has opened our banquet hall to anyone in our community who may need a safe place to escape the heat

Today from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM, our lower-level banquet facility will be open to ANYONE who: Needs to charge phones or other electronic devices... Needs a cool place to escape the heat...or wants a place to sit, rest, and regroup while power is being restored.

While we're all disappointed that the annual fireworks display had to be canceled, the decision was made out of an abundance of caution for everyone involved... spectators, event staff, and emergency responders. Safety will always come first.

This morning marked the annual Firecracker Race through downtown Ephrata. This year, organizers switched things up, challenging participants with a 5-mile race instead of the traditional 5K.

No Caption Pioneers, along with EMS, was dispatched to southbound Route 222 just past the township line for a reported vehicle accident with a vehicle on its side

Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company, June 24

Shortly after dispatch, the incident was upgraded to an entrapment response, bringing Rescue 16 to the scene as additional callers reported an occupant still inside the vehicle.

Assistant 15 arrived and confirmed the vehicle was on its side; however, all occupants had safely self-extricated prior to our arrival. With no entrapment found, the assignment was reduced to Station 15 and EMS.
