| First, we are fortunate to have another acquired structure where our members can conduct realistic, hands-on training over the coming weeks. These opportunities are invaluable in helping our firefighters sharpen the skills they rely on when real emergencies happen.
Second, we're continually humbled by the support shown by our community. Whether it's stopping to watch and encourage us or simply understanding why we're training, your support means more than you know.
Finally, we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of a resident who stopped by and donated a case of water and several bags of fresh apples to keep our members hydrated and fueled during training. Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness!
Some residents may have noticed the 200 block of E. Fulton Street closed last evening by our Fire Police. Thankfully, there was no emergency. The closure was in place solely to provide a safe training environment at the acquired structure located on the corner and, out of an abundance of caution, the block was temporarily closed to through traffic.
During the evening, crews trained on arrival scene size-up, victim searches, ladder deployment, and handline advancement. In the weeks ahead, our members will continue utilizing this structure to practice additional tactical firefighting techniques before the building is ultimately demolished.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the property owner for allowing us to use the structure for training. Opportunities like this cannot be replicated in a classroom and better prepare our members to protect our community.
