"Don't Wait... Check the Date"

In the last 2 days the Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company has responded to 5 calls for activated smoke detectors. While investigating each call to ensure the homes were safe we found a common problem, all of the smoke detectors were well over 10 years old. Smoke detectors should be replaced 10 years from the manufacture date even if it is still testing correctly. The inside components of the detector could become extremely sensitive or even worse not work at all. Stay safe and replace all smoke detectors every 10 years.
