| He has been involved in the fire service for majority of his life. Ben says the fire service is all he’s ever known, starting as his dad’s shadow when he was just 2 years old. He joined the fire service himself at 16 and has been a member of Ephrata for the past 7 years. What he enjoys most are the lifelong bonds formed with fellow members and, more recently, getting to experience the fire service from a different perspective as Captain. Outside of the firehouse, Ben works in fire protection in Maryland, testing and inspecting fire alarm and sprinkler systems. He’s engaged and has two stepchildren. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, gardening, tackling DIY projects, and watching pretty much any sport that’s on TV. His advice to new members is simple: never stop learning, learn from your mistakes, and never be afraid to ask questions, even if you think they’re “dumb.” Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the grind! |
